That’s right — listen up franchised and independent dealers. This year, Used Car Week is launching its first Dealer Training Tuesday. Auto dealers will be privy to a day of general sessions and workshops designed specifically to provide actionable takeaways for the many auto sales professionals that take the time to attend UCW. Last year, dealers and dealer groups represented at UCW included leaders like Paragon Honda, Larry H. Miller Dealerships, Luther Automotive, Findlay Automotive, and more.
Dealer Training, although often key to success, dominating your competition and furthering your business, can be expensive, and we all know how hard is to find the time for furthering professional education — especially in such a fast-paced business as an auto dealership. And you run the risk of slowing business by inviting consultants and trainers to your store. But don’t worry, this year the team at Used Car Week is bringing some of the industry’s top Dealer Trainers together for a day of sharing insight, strategies and tips to bring your dealership forward into 2020.

So, how did we come up with the concept for Dealer Training Tuesday? With the help of our attendees, of course! After receiving great ideas for more dealer content at a sister Cherokee Media Group conference — Auto Remarketing Canada, Toronto’s leading used-car event — we went to the drawing board and researched what Dealer Trainers were making a splash in today’s market.
And that’s just how Dealer Training Tuesday began — at AR Canada this past spring. The first Dealer Training Tuesday at AR Canada in Toronto this spring featured some of the industry’s top trainers and auto retail voices, like:
- Michael Cirillo, CEO, FlexDealer/Dealer Playbook Podcast
- Jonathan Dawson, founder/president, Sellchology
- Alan Dickie, president, Alan Dickie, Inc.
- Phil Sura, VP of Sales, UnityWorks
- Samantha Cunningham Zawilinski, VP of Accounts, Potratz
Topics ranged from future proofing your business and sales strategies for success, to best practices for social media and video marketing. And it was received so well by attendees in Toronto that the team at UCW is launching a similar program in Vegas this year.
Although early on in the content planning process, already on the docket for UCW Dealer Training Tuesday are Dawson, of Sellchology; as well as Benjamin Abrahams, director — training/accounts; and Tom Graig, Associate Director, both from GP Sandy, a training division of GP strategies.
